Frequently asked questions
What is MiroTalk P2P?
MiroTalk P2P is an open-source WebRTC video calling platform where participants connect directly, peer to peer, from the browser. You can try it online or install it on your own infrastructure.
Is MiroTalk P2P free?
The source code is free under the AGPLv3 license. Regular and Extended commercial licenses with a one-time fee are available for closed-source, rebranded or commercial use. Running your own server has its own hosting and maintenance costs.
Do I need to sign up or install anything to join a call?
On the public demo you just pick a room name and join from your browser, with no download, plug-in or login. Self-hosted instances can add authentication, room passwords, lobby and host protection.
Can I self-host MiroTalk P2P?
Yes. You can deploy it with Docker or Node.js on your own server, following the self-hosting guide.
Are MiroTalk P2P calls end-to-end encrypted?
Audio and video are encrypted in transit with DTLS-SRTP directly between peers, and no media server sits in the media path. When a direct connection is not possible, a TURN server relays the already encrypted traffic. Privacy and compliance still depend on how you configure and operate your deployment.
How can I embed MiroTalk P2P in my own app?
Use the embeddable iframe or widget, or create rooms from your backend with the REST API. Keep API secrets on the server and never expose them in the browser.
Try an easier, more secure way of calling.
